Technology with its conveniences has managed to maneuver into the field of academics. Lecturers, teachers and other professors have taken advantage of this convenience and now most of the learning takes place through the online system. This idea has its perks and its issues. As for me, online learning is infuriating for a lot of reasons.

1. Endless possibilities to procrastinate.
Online learning increases procrastination. Most of the time, simply knowing that the deadline is way ahead is a reason to procrastinate. In my analysis of my classmates, I have realized that most people have the same problem. People tend to procrastinate whenever they are not under stress. Students will always work with deadlines. In normal classes, lecturers and tutors usually give a short deadline and there is always the fact that the student is supposed to deliver the assignment personally.

2. Minimal contact with faculty (or anyone else).
Students who learn online do not have enough contact with the faculty members. This can also be interpreted to mean lack of instructional support. In as much as programs are asynchronous, it is impossible to have that strong connection between student and faculty members. Students taking classes online end up in trouble because of this aspect.

3. Focus on professional degrees.
Most online degrees fail to focus on degrees such as economics or history. Most are focused on degrees such as finance and education that yields a particular professional certificate. This implies that one has to take classes the normal way.

4. Lack of character building
Taking time to sit through a tedious class builds character in individuals. Online classes avoid this tedious exercise and this is why students taking their classes online are impatient. Some of these characters are applicable in various fields.

5. Does not prepare students for rigorous academic exercises.
The lack of character implies that a student lacks academic discipline. As a result, students cannot be able to undertake rigorous academic programs such as graduate programs. This implies that a student would be forced to still go back to the traditional learning system in order to be able to progress to a higher level of education.

6. Not for students who aren't self-motivated.
The process of taking online classes requires a high level of intrinsic motivation. Very few people have the motivation to study on their own. This causes a lot of problems for most students. At the end of the day, it is impossible for one to study effectively and this questions the effectiveness of online classes.

7. Unresponsive faculty.
The problem with online classes is that one does not get to immediate feedback like a face to face conversation. =in some universities, the public relation staff may not be very friendly. This cancels the convenience of the class completely.

8. Lack of understanding assignments.
During a normal class, the lecturer, professor or tutor takes time to explain a number of aspects about an assignment. Let’s face it, it is almost impossible to provide an exhausted document on the required expectations of an assignment. This problem is compounded by unresponsive staff and an unresponsive lecturer.

9. Social skills.
Normal classes employ a variety of ways of thinking and learning. Group work is usually a part of the learning experience. Through this, students develop social skills. This aspect is lacking in online classes and this makes it impossible for one to refer or ask for help. The issue is that this causes a lack of social capabilities in other areas of their lives.

10. Stuck with a computer.
When it comes to actually taking the classes, fatigue emanates from being stuck with a computer for a whole day. Not only does it cause fatigue but it is very annoying.

11. Simulations and demonstrations.
Viewing things or concepts in terms of demonstrations makes it easier to remember them. in most instances, online classes lack this very important element. This makes learning more difficult and also very difficult to memorize.

Whenever one hears that I am taking classes online, they stop taking me seriously. The notion is that such classes are for easy minded people and that everyone can succeed in them. this is quite annoying considering that for one to take an online class, they have to be attending to something else at the same time. However, few people value online classes and that is annoying.
